Come create, reflect, and connect with KAMA DC and Neha Misra!

In this hands-on workshop, Community Mandalas: Making & Becoming Circles of Our Belonging, Neha Misra (she/her/hers) will guide participants through a brief exploration of the sacred geometry of mandalas, followed by interactive community story circles and colorful mandala-making. Together, we will gather to celebrate the act of making, and becoming, circles of belonging, grounding ourselves in creativity, connection, and collective persistence.

About our Instructor, Neha Misra

Neha Misra (नेहा मिश्रा) is an award-winning contemporary eco-folk visual artist, poet, and climate justice advocate. Born and raised in New Delhi, India, Neha is a first-generation, multilingual immigrant who now calls a solar-powered community in the Washington, D.C. metro region her beloved adopted home.

Working across paper, textile, land, and poetics, Neha’s interdisciplinary practice uses the transformative power of art to build bridges between individual, collective, and planetary healing and justice. Her work draws from the eco-folk traditions, mythology, and vibrant cultural heritage of India, while also reflecting her academic foundation in physics and her interest in neuroscience, exploring the intersection of the physical and metaphysical, logic and imagination.

Neha’s paintings evoke the magic, resilience, and wisdom of nature, while her poetry serves as a passage for connection, renewal, and co-liberation. Her work has been featured in National Geographic Magazine, Forbes, Ms. Magazine, and Mothers of Invention. She has been recognized as a Presidential Leadership Scholar and a Regenerative Artivist with the Design Science Studio.

She was featured in the exhibition Climate Mandalas in a Burning World: Portals of Transformation with Hamiltonian Artists, as well as Homeland | Hostland, the 9th edition of the Arts in Foggy Bottom Outdoor Sculpture Biennial, and Dreams of Earth Renewal at Sandy Spring Museum.

Neha is the recipient of Nootana’s “Preronadayani/Inspiration Giver” Distinguished Creative Leadership Award, the North Carolina Climate Justice Collective’s TapRoot Arts Residency, and the Hamiltonian Artists Fellowship.
