LIC Artists, Inc. is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) arts advocacy organization with a mission
to:

* Increase the visibility of professional visual artists working in the Long Island City area
* Expand the range of opportunities available for Queens artists
* Develop a sense of community and camaraderie among area artists
* Create and promote public art events and projects for the cultural enrichment of the Queens
community.

Founded in 1985 by a small group of professional visual artists, LIC Artists, Inc (LICA) was initially
established in Long Island City to showcase its members through Open Studios exhibitions. LICA was
incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1989. Since its inception, LICA has offered its members a
wide range of benefits and opportunities including exhibition opportunities (both group and solo),
networking events and salons, studio visits with curators, educational workshops, marketing support,
and community art project opportunities.
