The kitchen has always been more than a place to cookāitās a space for reflection, storytelling, and resistance.
Join Gabriela Ćlvarez, Williamsburg-based Puerto Rican chef and writer, for a meditative, hands-on cooking experience. Together, weāll prepare three dishes while exploring what inner peace means and how food can nourish not only our bodies but also our collective liberation.
Gabriela has spent over a decade weaving together food and storytelling, crafting immersive dinner experiences with collaborators like Tom Colicchioās Craft Hospitality and The Marble House. From exploring Puerto Rican ethnic diversity through food to telling the powerful story of Hurricane Mariaās impact on the diaspora through a five-course dinner, her work highlights the deep connections between culture, history, and cuisine.
A Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Culture of Health Fellow, Gabriela is currently working on her debut cookbook, drawing from her time cooking at Soul Fire Farm.
Come ready to cook, share, and reflect. Letās make resistance delicious.
