Milk Press Virtual Workshop: Poetry of the Spring Equinox

A weekly workshop series produced by the Poetry Society of New York

With guest instructor & Milk Press Editor Kate Belew.

Spring sits on the horizon. This year, the exact moment of the equinox is Monday, March 20th. Celebrated traditionally as a day of fertility, balance, and new life, the etymology of equinox comes from the Latin root words of equal night.

During this time, the trees are about to burst, the last frost will pass, and the earth will begin to soften again in its magic, preparing for spring rains. During spring, we can tap into language and symbols of possibility, the dreams we cultivated during our winter rest, and traditional images of the spring: seeds, the hare, and the egg.

This writing workshop will explore seasonal inspiration and magic related to the spring equinox, helping to craft and create poems that tie in with the themes and dreams of spring, magically connecting with what is possible and allowing the writer to work with poems as seeds, intentions to be planted during this potent week.

**This workshop will take place on Zoom.**
