California
Free

On Sunday, July 13th, we will be hosting a special edition of the Light Exchange in honor of the San Francisco Art Book Fair happening that same weekend. We have invited a group of three visiting speakers who will be in town from Los Angeles to speak.

Our first speakers will be Brandon Bandy and Rachel Jackson. They are artists and publishers based in Long Beach California. They co-operate Special Effects, a publishing studio producing art books and ephemera, and co-run cooperative gallery Timeshare in Los Angeles. Both projects prioritize artists whose practices consider the intertwine of information technology, economy, conspiracy, and visual culture within postindustrial society. Brandon Bandy received an MFA from University of California Riverside in 2023 and is currently a lecturer at University of California Riverside and California State University Bakersfield. Rachel Jackson is presently a MFA candidate at University of California Riverside. Recent solo and group exhibitions include Weatherproof, Chicago IL, The Fulcrum Press, Los Angeles, CA with works currently on view at Rumpus Room, St. Louis, MO and Escolar, Santa Rosa, CA.

Also speaking will be Joshua Schaedel, founder of The Fulcrum Press. Started in Los Angeles in 2014, The Fulcrum Press is a publisher exploring the interplay between photography and other media. They are committed to expanding the possibilities of the publication format through an approach to the photo book as a curatorial project that exists both on and off the printed page.
