Women and Non-Binary Electronic Music Meetup

Portland, Oregon
Free

All women and non-binary folks are welcome to join us for the first of a monthly event series that encourages learning together, jam together, and connect with other artists in the area. We want to create a welcoming environment to help grow our community of electronic musicians for all femmes and enbies regardless of skill level or experience. Besides being educational and fun it's a great way to meet potential future artistic collaborators!

While Synth Library Portland is providing the gathering space and sponsoring this free event you do not need to be a member of the library to attend, though we hope you consider joining our diverse crew of creatives.

Every first Wednesday of the month we will meet at Synth Library Portland's space in Lloyd Center mall from 5:30pm to 7pm. We will have tea and vegetarian snacks and a time to meet others as folks are arriving, a short workshop/presentation, and a freeform exploration period with instruments set up to play and jam with others if you wish at the end.

Here's the general schedule for these meetups:

5:30pm - 5:55pm | Socializing + Snacks

5:55-6:00 | Explaining Synth Library Portland's Mission and Programming

6:00-6:30 | Mini-Workshop/Presentation on an electronic music topic or a look into an artist's process. In this meetup's short talk, "De-Fanging Modular Synths" Library facilitator Max Jersak will touch on the intimidation factor of modular gear and how to overcome it so that beginners can approach these wild and wonderful instruments with confidence.

6:30-7:00 | Time to play the Library's instruments, jam with others, ask questions to the presenter or library facilitators, and chat with other attendees

We hope to see you there!
