Radio Radius is a class and conversation series that explores low powered FM radio transmission as a tool for connection and artistic expression. Students will build and broadcast from their own “Mini-FM,” do-it-yourself radio transmitters while hearing from guest practitioners in music, community radio, and site-specific art. Disclaimer
Applicants based locally in NYC and the surrounding NY Metropolitan or Tri-State Area will be prioritized for this class. Limited seats are available for non-local applicants.

Hybrid Format
Attendance for in-person classes is optional, but encouraged. It is possible to only participate in this class online.

Online-only classes will be labeled on the syllabus and held on Zoom.

All applicants must be willing to cover their own travel and accommodations in order to attend in-person classes.

All in-person attendees must participate in COVID-19 Safety and Precautions (see below).

Covid-19 Safety and Precautions
In-person attendees will be required to provide proof of up-to-date vaccination status (including the 2024-2025 booster) to attend. Students, teachers and staff are expected to be masked during class. Before the first and last day of class, all participants will be expected to show a negative result on a COVID test.

Use the guide below to select a ticket level based on your access to resources. Scholarships and tickets are limited, so choose thoughtfully based on your circumstances. The guidelines aren’t prescriptive—pick what feels right for you.

Redistribution
If you're an ally wanting to give a tax-deductible gift, a professional with tuition covered by a $1M+ organization, or self-paying with a $100K+ salary, inherited wealth, no debt, or can meet basic needs without working.

Full tuition
If you're a professional employed by an organization with a budget under $1M covering tuition or buying your own ticket and can afford basic needs, earn $75K+, have manageable debt, higher education, or family assets like a home or retirement fund.

Payment Plan
If you can’t afford to pay full tuition in one installment, we offer payment plans in A) two monthly payments of $500, B) 3 monthly payments of $333, or C) 4 monthly payments of $250. Payment plans are only available for the full $1000 tuition of the course. To request a payment plan please email admissions@sfpc.study with 'Payment Plan for Radio Radius' in the subject line and whether you would attend in-person or online in the body of the email.

Scholarship
If you have difficulty consistently covering basic living expenses, lack savings, are unable to keep up with debt payments, don’t have access to higher education or are the first in your family to attend college, your income supports others. If you need a scholarship, please submit an application via the form by the application due date of February 2nd at 11:59pm ET.
