The I Ching (pronounced “ee cheeng“) is a divination manual, and one of the oldest and most spiritually important books in the world. Also known as The Book of Changes, it is a book of wisdom and fortune-telling, written over 2500 years ago in China.
The I Ching Club is simply a framework that invites those who wish to learn about or share it to meet. Total novices and longtime users are encouraged to attend!
The I Ching is more than just a spiritual text, it is a mechanism for answering and illuminating questions-- readers of the oracle use coins to generate random numbers and reveal one of sixty-four possible combinations of yin and yang. Like the tarot, runes, and other fortune-telling systems, it has been used by countless people around the world to bring new and creative understanding to life.
The session will begin with an introduction by artist Jonathan Sims on how to personally use the book before opening up the space to any and all discussions on its many nuances and ways it can be applied to life, relationships, and spirituality.
Free event. Meet-up Time: Thursday, May 30 from 7-9pm.
- This event is in Bushwick, Brooklyn, near the Wilson L train stop or the Chauncey J train stop. Once you submit this RSVP you will receive an email with the address and further instructions.
