For two hundred years an oppressive dictatorship ruled the planet of Sirai. The Combine, a vast and technologically advanced federation of star-faring polities, was content to sell goods to the planet’s elite and remain hands-off.
Then there was a popular uprising. The Combine sent troops to help keep the peace, maintain the status quo, and keep trade flowing. It didn’t work, and Combine forces were dragged into a prolonged insurgency on the side of an unpopular and corrupt government.
The revolution is over, the insurgency has waned, and Sirai’s key stakeholders have agreed to let a Combine Apportionment Committee - two diplomats and a general - redraw the map of Sirai and create new nation-states. They will have input, and can make deals with other stakeholders and the Committee mem-bers. In the end, They’ll either accept their new world or Sirai will spiral back into civil war and chaos.
Apportionment is a freeform committee larp in which players step into the roles of Apportionment Committee Members and the local Sirai people who have come to negotiate with them. Core mechanics involve political discussion, map partitioning, and voting. With permission from all attendees, players portraying the media may record play on their phones.
