A Blind-Drawings, Collage, Sculpture, Painting, Jewellery Making Course for adults.
The Animal Inside You is a fun and interactive experience where we explore blind-drawings, collages, sculpting, painting, jewellery making and simple movement with a focus on our wild friends - ANIMALS!
The course is being conducted by Jade Drakes, a Trinidadian jeweller who has a fondness for all things craft and a great affinity for animals. Jade is of Trinidadian and Italian parentage and grew up in Trinidad but she has also lived in the United States, Italy, Germany and most recently Ireland. Jade is a jeweller by trade and studied metalsmithing at Slippery Rock University, Pennsylvania, blacksmithing at Metalwerx Studios, Boston, jewellery at North Bennet Street School, also in Boston and completed her formal training at Alchimia in Florence, Italy where she pursued contemporary jewellery studies. She also has a passion for ballet and also studied theatre while at Slippery Rock University.
Jade draws her inspiration from nature, vintage shops, museums, books and , of course, animals. She found the techniques used in the course especially helpful while working on an exhibition in Germany entitled “Min Hund”, which featured various sculptures of dogs born from blind-drawings she had done. Jade found the experience to be quite enjoyable and even therapeutic and wants to share what she has discovered.
