Josh Halper | Grace Rogers | sargent seedoo

An evening of music from southern transplants sargent seedoo and Josh Halper alongside Kentucky singer-songwriter Grace Rogers.

Josh Halper is a classically trained guitarist who studied at Belmont University. By way of introduction, the Nashville guitarist quips, “I was raised in Tennessee by a Jewish, New York Deadhead…” That’s not all you need to know about him, but that curious and compelling combination captures the mixture of humor, sorrow and musical virtuosity that ripples throughout Halper’s debut album, Alrightnik.

sargent seedoo hangs his hat in the southern part of flatbush, almost midwood, close enough to brighton beach that he swims there often. He sings a lot of what he claims are his own songs, but in one way or another, most likely its all a stolen scramble of the ballads and twisted mountain fiddle tunes and peculiar old folk songs hes crammed into his head all these years. All the same, they're fine songs and he sings them just fine. He knows his way around a guitar pretty good and hes a great driver. Brown eyes, brown hair, great driver.

Grace Rogers is a musician & writer based out of Louisville, Kentucky originally from Owingsville, Ky having just released her debut full length album Mad Dogs (Sophomore Lounge, 2025). With accompaniment from a band of Louisville friends (Ian Gordon, Fiona Palensky, Chris Cupp, & Scott Boice), the Grace Rogers outfit blends rock, country, and traditional influences into tunes that, in the words of Leigh Viner, "hum like hymns and drive like rain." Stereogum writes “Rogers has the kind of talent and irrepressible personality that makes a singer-songwriter stand out in a crowded field.”
