Get to Crit! is a new art critique discussion group organized by Melissa Ortiz from Based Art Collective, and hosted at Dorchester Art Project. Get to Crit! aims to give local visual media artists of all skill levels the opportunity to engage in critique discussions with their peers to gain feedback on their works of art without the pressure to perform for the academic eye that comes with art school.

Get to Crit! is a space where we can grow as artists’, reflect on our work objectively through peer discussion, and learn from each other through our own practices. All skill set levels are welcome, we will not be favoring one style over another or technique. A background in art school is not necessary. We really want to make this event as accessible as possible seeing as how not everyone has access to art school. We will use constructive language that will enable us to be open, and create a nurturing culture for artists to flourish with feedback, and community.
