Audiovisual Vector Synthesis (In-person) Edit

Portland, Oregon
$80.52 (includes all fees)

**THIS IS A 2 DAY IN-PERSON WORKSHOP & YOUR TICKET COVERS BOTH DAYS**

The Audiovisual Vector Synthesis workshop, led by Derek Holzer, investigates the direct relationship
between sound+image. Participants will learn how to draw Lissajous figures, render simple two- and three-dimensional shapes, and process photographs and video into vector artwork. These vector shapes can be displayed on oscilloscopes, Vectrex consoles, and ILDA laser displays using audio signals which can also be heard. They can also be further modified in real time using external audio sources such as voice, amplified instruments, or electronic synthesizers.

Attendees will learn about the nature of vector synthesis, including its historical roots and creative applications. Derek will walk us through his Pure Data Vector Synthesis library which can be used by participants on their own laptops to learn practical concepts in creating vector synthesis forms. Analog vector hardware will be available to display participants' creations.

8/13 12-5PM and 8/14 12-5PM / $75
Personal laptop (Mac/PC) required to participate.
