Performances by:
Francisco Botello is a Mexican/American sound artist and educator born and raised in Chula Vista, California. Growing up a dual citizen on the dividing line between the United States and Mexico, their work reflects on the nature of place and belonging. Gathering and composing with field recordings, alongside electronics and computer music tools, they explore questions of identity, ancestry, geography, change, and loss. Recently, they have been experimenting with gestural control and working with immersive, multi-channel sound systems as ways to connect their art more intimately with their body and audience. Their multi-channel work has been showcased at places such as Oregon Center for Contemporary Art, Pacific Northwest College of Art, and the Portland Art Museum.

Wild Card of Cascadia is a trio from Portland whose immersive, spontaneous music emerges from omnivorous, ever-changing, inquisitive working methods. In search of unexpected discoveries and a continually broadening vocabulary of ideas and sound making approaches, they deploy conceptual prompts, unexpected instrumentation, and game-like challenges. They draw from free improvisation, musique concrete, modern composition, and experimental music influences and processes, and often find playful, challenging sounds that transcend typical tropes of
modern "ambient" and modular synth music. Emphasizing live performance in non-traditional venues over traditional 'band' activities and recordings, Wild Card's two self-released albums are snapshots of the band's evolving working methods and discoveries. Wild Card's membership includes established artists William Selman (Mysteries of the Deep, Critique of Everyday Life), Marcus Fischer (12k), and Paul Dickow (who records as Strategy), but the group's sound is distinct from their individual projects.
