Marvellous Grounds presents: Mirror Memoirs with Amita Swadhin

Toronto, Ontario
$11.90 - $17.18 (includes all fees)

Unit 2 and Marvellous Grounds: Queer of colour spaces in Toronto present:

MIRROR MEMOIRS - Toronto Edition

Join us for an interactive presentation by Amita Swadhin, founder and director of Mirror Memoirs, a storytelling and organizing project uplifting the narratives and leadership of LGBTQI people of color who survived child sexual abuse.

From 2016-2018, Amita collected audio recordings from 60 survivors across 15 states in the US. Hear an excerpt of the archive, learn the project methodology, grapple with the lessons and implications coming out of these stories, and engage in collective healing around an issue that affects us all but that we too often don't know how to discuss.

For more information about the project, visit: www.mirrormemoirs.com

$10 Suggested / PYWC - No one turned away for lack of funds.

This event is sponsored by Marvellous Grounds: Queer of colour spaces in Toronto, a community mapping and archiving project that seeks to imagine new ancestors and new futures for queer and trans Black, Indigenous and people of colour (QTBIPOC) in Toronto. We have edited two books and a blog featuring the art, activism, and writings of QTBIPOC. The books (Marvellous Grounds: https://btlbooks.com/book/marvellous-grounds and Queering Urban Justice: https://utorontopress.com/us/queering-urban-justice-2) will be available at a discount at the event. The blog can be viewed here: marvellousgrounds.com.
