What is (placeHolder)? We don’t really know. One year ago three noisy people decided to put together a house show outside in Somis, CA. Unbeknownst to them, that singular event would spark lifelong friendships and lots and lots of music. Sometimes it’s a soft and simple droning, other times it’s folk melodies and pump organs, frequently it is an eruption of joyful sound. What will happen on September 3rd? Probably something harsh, and silly, and definitely a ton of improv.

Come celebrate our birthday with us, and we can find out how it will play out together. There will be cake!

(placeHolder) is a free improvisation trio consisting of M A Harms (percussionist, poet, and performance artist), Eric Lennartson (percussionist and oscilloscope artist), and Daniel
Newman-Lessler (keyboardist and vocalist). Their music has a wide sonic palette; Anything can become an instrument. Tuning forks, speaker feedback, melodeons, and mannequins all have their place. From these disparate materials, sometimes delicate, other times cacophonous noise and evolving textures are created.
