Thollem’s OBSTACLE ILLUSION with projections by ACVilla

plus Thollem/Stewart/Francis Trio

This is the first night of Thollem's East Coast Obstacle Illusion tour to support his new solo album on Astral Spirits Records. Thollem will play two completely different sets. His multimedia collaboration with ACVilla, Obstacle Illusion, is a 47 minute experience that plays with our personal and collective consciousness through visual and sonic allegories, riddles and recontextualizations. This will be followed by a set in trio with Luke Stewart and Nik Francis. Nik is featured in Thollem's epic 25-album pandemic series on Astral Spirits.

"Thollem/ACVilla are the kind of fiercely independent artists the world needs more of” (LiveEyeTV)

Thollem is a perpetually traveling pianist, keyboardist and composer. He's spent most of his life living on the road throughout North America and Europe. His work is ever-changing, evolving and responding to the times and his experiences, both as a soloist and in collaboration with hundreds of artists across idioms and disciplines. "Thollem displays a chameleonic ability to adapt to suit whatever musical context presents itself...there is more than one way to access the infinite.” (The Wire)

Since 2008, ACVilla has lived as a peripatetic traveler, tour manager, photographer, videographer and visual artist. As an artist, she focuses her camera on both impossibly large subjects as well as the nuances that define the dynamics and character of the fleeting yet eternal present moment. Her work has been shown throughout the US and Europe in DIY spaces, museums, galleries, schools and universities.
