Join for the opening reception of the latest pop up exhibition from our 2019 Project Space Open Call!
“Wild Animals” is a two person exhibition featuring work by Katherine McMahon and Kayla Camstra that aims to tackle the idea of subtle similarities between animal and human.
6-9pm will be the opening cocktail reception. The show will be on view Saturday and Sunday 1-6pm.
A statement about the show:
"We think, learn, worry, intellectualize our opinions and express ourselves. We are also dumb dogs; deceptive snakes. We possess the audacity to think we’re better but man has the ability to destroy the earth because of an inability to see beyond our fragile ego. Within the animal kingdom and mankind alike, there are certainly individual examples of species and people more evolved than others but alas we function as a whole and our collective ecosystem ebbs and flows based on our ambitions and our impulses. The aim of our show is to touch on the idiosyncrasies of animals, and therefore man. With this show, we aim to present the animal simultaneously as valiant hero and self destructive fool to illustrate the duality that lives within us all independently and collectively. In varying measures we want to try to answer the question: How are we any different?"
