Rhinoceropolis is honored to host Dave Bixby in an incredibly special performance commemorating the 50 year release of his pioneering masterpiece! Widely considered the pioneer of loner folk, Dave recorded "Ode To Quetzalcoatl" at age 20 in 1969 detailing a spiritual revelation after ruining his mind with drugs and consequently finding a power beyond them. The Michigan-born songwriter released a second album, which was commissioned by a religious cult in 1970, and afterwards vanished for 40 years. His music attracted a cult-like following among musicologists and record collectors, with copies of his album changing hands for over $2,000. Guerssen Records in Spain established contact with Dave after a long period of silence, making him aware of his following and reissuing his records. Since 2011, Dave has traveled around the world performing his music to all walks of life, celebrating the new-found appreciation for his music as well as the timelessness of his songwriting, which effortlessly spanned 50 years and only managed to inspire and inform trends in music as time passes on.
With special guests Scott Seskind and Midwife.
