ArtBrunch: clay casting workshop

Queens, New York
$11.90 - $22.46 (includes all fees)

Join us for a special edition of ArtBrewt, revamped during our Summer Open Call as ArtBrunch, on Saturday June 22nd 1-3pm.

We will host artist and writer Corinne Beardsley for a sculpture relief workshop where she will demonstrate "clay drawing", casting clay with fast-setting Hydrocal plaster. Beardsley draws into clay, recording her touch - and casts the relief in Hydrocal. She will demonstrate this process so each participant can draw and create marks in soft clay with their hands and tools to express their own physical embodiment. Marks become bones of touch, memory, and identity. Participants will stimulate their sense of touch and return to the body, through the primitive act of making marks.

This workshop is 1.5 hours with a break in-between for the mold to set. Masks and gloves will be provided, but we highly recommend participants wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty.

In consideration of the space provided to us from the nonprofit ChaShaMa, this session is a sliding scale $10 - $20 ticket price to foster accessibility and community in our pop up location! 75% of proceeds will go to Corinne for her time in leading the workshop.

Brunch-esque bites and drinks will also be provided to enjoy during the program.
