This beginner-friendly workshop empowers participants to use hand-embroidery as a vehicle for self-expression and a tool for prolonging the life of their clothing. Feel free to think about what you want to design and come with questions! We will go over supplies and the following stitches: back, seed, running, and blanket. We will also discuss finishing options and visible mending techniques.
Recommended Materials:
-an item of clothing you want to repair or personalize (preferably made of non-stretchy material)
-practice scrap fabric (optional, non-stretchy material preferred)
-embroidery hoop (any size will do!)
-embroidery needles
-small, sharp scissors to trim threads
-6-ply embroidery floss in any colors you want to use
-tools for design transfer like water soluble marker, heat-disappearing pen (good for more detailed designs on light-colored fabrics https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D5BL2DK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1), and/or Sulky Sticky Fabri-Solvy (recommended for transfer onto dark fabrics)
