Join Nick Fox-Gieg's workshop on Single-Board Computers for media art. No prior experience required!

Raspberry Pis (and similar products) are potentially a lot more than cheap, tiny Linux computers--they can become single-purpose art installation tools that run one program whenever they're plugged in, never require subscriptions nor updates, and can be easily backed up and duplicated in case of hardware failure. In this workshop we'll set up a bunch of Raspberry Pis and explain each step as we go.

A single-board computer (SBC) is a complete computer on a single circuit board, comprising memory, IO, a CPU and GPU, and network capabilities.

Nick Fox-Gieg is an experimental animator in Toronto. Nick’s ultimate goal is to make practical, appealing, open-source, and artist-friendly tools for video installations using large calibrated arrays of cameras, depth cameras, SBCs (Single Board Computers, like the Raspberry Pi or Nvidia Jetson), and recycled desktop computers.

Established in 2022, FEED Media Art Center is devoted to the production, exhibition and preservation of all forms of media art.
