Madelyn Ilana is an Asheville-based multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter, composer and healing arts practitioner. Madelyn grew up playing the violin from a young age and has studied various styles of music including Classical, Klezmer, Middle Eastern, Celtic, Appalachian, Folk, Balkan, experimental, and contemporary styles.
For this occasion, she will be offering classical selections by Debussy, Massenet, Vivaldi, Bach, and more, as well as sprinkling in some world music pieces.
Madelyn aims to offer her own unique interpretation of these classical pieces, as they have been shared countless times throughout the ages. She feels it is important to breathe new life into the music, allowing it to arise from the present-moment experience and come off the page, pushing and pulling time, and playing with subtlety, into the realm of formlessness and freedom.
