Psychedelic Yogis is a bi-monthly gathering dedicated to exploring the synergy between contemplative practices and altered states explorations.

Our intention is to nurture a supportive and inclusive space where community can co-create meaningful relationships while learning about new practices.

Our programming incorporates meditation practice, mindfulness, silence, mindful speaking, mindful listening, and reflection around prompts.

Our trained facilitators cycle for each gathering, each bringing their own style, experience and energy into the space to ensure a rich diversity of ways to relate to this vastly unexplored, yet fascinating field.

Our program is entirely participant funded, and donation based on a sliding scale of $15-30. You create Psychedelic Yogis through your generosity in practice. Please consider the extent that best represents your financial situation. Yogis are welcome to give what they can, and conserve what they must.

Our evenings are substance free and we ask that you remain sober throughout the program.

Please arrive early. doors open at 6:15PM, the program starts at 6:30PM sharp and ends at 8:30PM.

FAQ
What’s a typical gathering like?
Part 1: Arrival, check-in, grounding - we hear who is in the room, settle into togetherness and explore a practice that supports our ability to shift into meditative awareness, typically a guided meditation.
Part 2: Relational inquiries - We explore the intersection between contemplative practices and altered state explorations through facilitated break out group inquiries, typically mindful speaking and listening with some prompts to reflect on.
Part 3: Communal harvest - we hold a sharing circle to close the evening.

Who facilitates these evenings and what’s their background?
We like to rotate facilitators, have guests and co-facilitate with one another. Our most frequent facilitators are:
Guillaume Caron is a dharma practitioner and mindfulness teacher rooted in the Insight / Western Theravada tradition which emphasizes vipassana practice and the cultivation of mindfulness in all aspects of life.
Matthew Menzies is a student of the Soto Zen and climate preservation activist. He is indigenous Maya form the nation of Belize Central America. Matthew’s practice offers a fusion of buddhist spiritual and ethical practice, with a deep grounded connection to mother earth, and our shared ancestral traditions.
Gala Narezo is a meditation teacher, a leadership trainer and facilitator, artist, activist, and mother. She practices and apprentices in the Mesoamerican tradition of Curanderismo.
Joanna Yap is a student of the Red Path Zen lineage which integrates the Red Path with Soto Zen. She is a Master Plant Dieta practitioner and trained to guide social dietas through the Shipibo-Conibo and Quechua-Lamista tradition. Joanna walks with plants to find pathways to ancestral wisdoms and to nature.

Will we learn ways to better prepare, navigate and integrate psychedelic experiences?
Indirectly, yes. We take a non-prescriptive approach with this. People are complex and everyone is more or less in a different place. We set up a container that supports people in learning new skills or deepening already existing ones. People then typically connect the dots on their own given where they are on their journey.

What do you consider to be a contemplative practice?
We hold this in a pretty inclusive and light way. Movement-based practices such as yoga, qi qong, tai chi, dance… Different forms of meditation practice, tea ceremony practitioners, etc. This is by no mean an exhaustive list.

What do you consider to be an altered states?
Here as well, we hold this in a pretty inclusive and light way. Substance-induced altered states like psychedelics and plant medicines might seem obvious but we have folks who are primarily sweat lodge practitioners, who do breathwork, dreamwork, etc. Again, this is by no means an exhaustive list.

Who can attend?
Anyone who has an interest in any of the things mentioned above and is looking to meet like-minded folks to practice with and connect.
All levels of experience are welcome.

How can we stay in touch?
You can join our mailing list https://forms.gle/aN4QWNPLfrorupek9
Every attendee receives an invitation to our group chat.
