GHOSTWATCH at HYPERREAL FILM CLUB
GHOSTWATCH is a British ghosthunting TV show mockumentary that first broadcast on BBC1 on Halloween night, 1992. Because the broadcasters presented the show as a live news report, made even more plausible by the casting of real-life broadcaster Sir Michael Parkinson, an estimated 1,000,000 phone calls were made to the BBC switchboard while Parkinson and his fellow journalists investigated claims of a poltergeist haunting a family’s home. Because of the nationwide panic, GHOSTWATCH has never been repeated on UK television.
