Created and performed by Michael Niederman and Daniel McCoy: a special Halloween edition of Whiskey Flicks Live!

Whiskey Flicks Live! returns to the backyard of the City Reliquary for a special unscripted, boozed-infused deep dive into cinematic horror, thriller, and dark sci-fi.

It’s October, again. And the world is still scary. Climate change, pandemic, infrastructure bills...yikes! In the midst of so much uncertainty, one thing remains for sure: we love scary movies. We love to jump, we love to scream, we love to grip an arm. But WHY, for god’s sake? Isn’t the world outside our window and the news inside our screens terrifying enough?
For their third-annual edition of Something Whiskey This Way Comes…, Mike and Dan will use Whiskey Flicks Live! to explore these questions and more as they dive into a century of scary movies.

Each performance of WFL! is a one-time-only event in which:

1. Dan presents a series of themed movie clips to Mike, who
2. reacts in real time with a stream-of-consciousness mix of
2 a) film criticism,
2 b) social commentary, and
2 c) personal narrative.
3. Mike doesn't know what Dan's going to show him,
4. Dan doesn't know what Mike's going to say, and
5. the audience is along for the ride.
6. There may be dancing.
7. There will definitely be drinking.
8. Hopefully you remember why you love the movies.

The main entrance and indoor museum are entirely flat, but there are 4 steps up and 4 steps down to the backyard. The backyard is uneven with some platforms, but a paved area near the entrance is available with a view of the stage. Reliquaries typically house the ostensible bones of dead saints. We’re a museum that houses the bones of New York City. From seltzer bottles to schist cores, roller skates from racially integrated rinks, to a burnt out lightbulb from the Statue of Liberty's torch.
