Films and Music in Celebration of the 200th Anniversary of Walt Whitman's Birth

Part of Washington, D.C.'s city-wide festival (walt200.org) on the exact 200th birthday of the famous poet who was born on May 31, 1819. An evening of short films including the debut of a poetic trilogy by local filmmaker H. Paul Moon, followed by a live performance by experimental/improvisational musicians responding to silent films and live readings of Whitman poetry. Also on the program is a film essay exploring highlights of Whitman's poetry in cinema and television history, along with several new one-minute visual settings of "Poets to Come," created by local film students, in tribute to Whitman's prescient vision of more diverse generations after his time.
