Sweating Vessels, Dry City is a multimedia installation that unpacks our complicated relationship to water in a time of drought and deluge. The work is a modular and collaborative installation of porous vessels inspired by the ancient ceramic technology, the olla.

Queer Spa Network will be facilitating spa programming during gallery hours, inviting the public to practice community care by creating body oils from drought resistant plants and gifting them to local tenant organizers, organizing toward collective ownership and governance of their longtime home in Chinatown, Los Angeles.

Queer Spa Network (QSN) is a group of autonomous Queer artists and healers invested in rest, healing, and pleasure for our communities. We are brought together to exchange knowledge and collaborate on projects that build empathetic communal relationships with our body, the land and waters, and one another. Queer Spa Network meets on a monthly
basis to: discuss topics centered around care, disability, bathing; organize regular bathing outings; and discuss potential public projects.

Sweating Vessels, Dry City is made possible with the support of the Lightning Fund, a re-granting program administered by LACE (Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions) and funded by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
