ArtBrewt is back for session II with our partner venue, Bridge & Tunnel Brewery! ArtBrewt is a bi-monthly program produced by PARADICE PALASE that invites the public to participate in art-making workshops led by practicing artists.
Join us May 15th from 7-9 pm at the Bridge and Tunnel Taproom for a needlepoint workshop from artist Becca Van K.
The workshop will include a quick overview of the technical basics of needlepoint (counted thread embroidery) stitching and its creative possibilities. Needlepoint differs from straight embroidery through the use of grid-ed fabric, which creates a pixelated, visual aesthetic and unique structural integrity. Due to the time-consuming nature of needlepoint practice, the workshop will provide each person with the skills and materials to begin your piece and complete at home.
Ticket price includes one beer/beverage from the B&T taproom and materials to make one needlepoint piece.
*Please note: This workshop starts promptly at 7 pm; we suggest arriving by 6:45 to check in, get settled, and cash in on your drink ticket!
About the artist:
Becca Van K (b. 1991, Chicago) is a mixed media artist based in New York's Hudson Valley. Her work is highly sensory, with a strong focus on tactile comfort, the sounds of house & techno music, and vibrant colors & patterns which she explores through various handcraft and fiber art methods. Listening exclusively to dance music mixes when working puts her in a repetitious, meditative rhythm through which she transcribes her sensorial experiences. A Bard College alumna who has exhibited around upstate New York and beyond, she spends much of her time exploring the woods and mountains of her adopted home. Torn between city nightlife and the mountains, she’d only leave New York if there were techno clubs in the desert.
