Matafame is Chicago-based supper club inspired by the long-standing Italian tradition of using the table as a place to converge and connect.
Matafame, an expression meaning "hunger killer" with origins in Italian and Spanish, historically described simple dishes that kept Mediterranean fishermen sated while at sea. Our food is an homage to the regionalized peasant cuisines that have supported localized food systems and nourished communities for centuries.
Join us for our inaugural dinner, served family-style in five courses. Plate-passing and copious amounts of olive oil are guaranteed (and maybe a few sardines).
