Part of The Poetry Society of New York's Weekly Virtual Workshop Series.
With poet Danielle Bero!
Embark on a creative journey with a poetry workshop with a film motif. Starting with interactive icebreakers and warm-up exercises to get acclimated. Explore poetry through selected poems that inspire and guide the concept of a compelling storytelling arch. Break down script structures and grasp the nuances of the 3-part act for a solid creative foundation. Watch a powerful poem by Danez Smith to set the landscape for free writing. Transition to visual storytelling with a thought-provoking short film, featuring the same narrative structure and poetic twists for added depth. Engage in writing exercises to cultivate unique narrative voices, concluding with a shared session where participants showcase their creations and celebrate the diverse array of stories within the group.
