Between Hue and Hair. (2023- ): Is a self-portrait —an interactive sculpture that imagines Afro-futurity and identity formation. It uses machine learning, biological material, and video and audio recordings with custom software and electronics. The sculpture comes together in multi-channel, AV , interactive sculptures, and lyrical essays.
“I am allowing how and what I want to be seen and experienced, what I privilege and what I allow. This is important as I realize I too must infuse my experience in the fabric of living in modernity- and be painfully clear- blackness isn’t a monolith- an incarnation of troupes and stereotypes as a result of the complete negation of our identities and bodies.” - Bello
