About the Instructor:
Purveyor of deep, infectious, dance grooves, good vibes and freedom - that’s how Boston Chery describes herself as a DJ. Never afraid to go too deep, her emotive musical selections are her own passionate therapy. Boston Chery grew up in the 90’s in Brooklyn, listening to an eclectic combination of Brandy, Michael Jackson, Missy Elliot, Zouk (kassav, kolè sèrè), and synth-infused 90’s music. All of these influences became infused with her own love for both Hip-Hop and world music. Boston Chery ended up with quite a mixed spectrum of musical influences. Today, this translates into sets where she puts all the pieces of the music that she loves best (beautiful synth-work, ethereal backdrops, brooding baselines, and an occasional vocal hook) on top of pronounced, foot-shuffling, hip-moving, zouk and reggae beats.
Boston Chery is a very active member of helping up and coming Dj’s and women producers further there craft. Boston Chery is no stranger to the ups and downs of a small-town music scene. Though she loves playing in nightclubs, intimate settings, special events, her love for music goes beyond the spectrum of mixing tunes. As a producer, self taught pianist , and her own promoter, she has found plenty of ways to express herself musically. Boston Chery has been featured in XXL, Mass Appeal, Saint Heron, Blavity, Pigeons and Planes and more for her work behind the turntables and in the community curating successful events.
