Monsters are the language of our internal world. In Mbodied Monster Making - 3M for short - we’ll unleash our rich, creative, and unpredictable imaginations through an energizing practice of moving our bodies in new ways. Through playful interventions guided by Harald and Zack, we’ll imagine, “move as” and draw our monsters, explore our internal unknown universes, and think critically about the concept of “monster” in an embodied and creative way.
Join us for this practice to reflect on what monsters mean to us through physical movement exercises, activities combining light imagination with movement, freewriting and drawing, and deeper, quieter imagination exercises and prompts.
Note: Your explorations in this practice is defined according to your own ability – no movement experience is required.
About the hosts:
Zack (W. Zack Wood) is an artist and game designer based in Kyoto. He has been creating monsters in video games, comics, and media throughout his life, and currently studies monsters and play for his PhD, and is exploring these concepts through workshops and performances.
Harald de Bondt is a dance/movement therapist and dreamworker in Brussels, who guides others to listen to both their body and imagination and notice how they interact. He is especially fascinated by monsters and the worlds they populate, and how movement can lead us into different embodied states.
