Using Oscilloscopes with Synthesizers Workshop

Portland, Oregon
Free - $11.90 (includes all fees)

Have you ever wondered what's at the root of the waveforms shown in your DAW or gawked at some phosphorescent laboratory squiggles on a sci-fi screen? Would you like to "see" sound or glimpse the electrical lifeblood of your favorite synth? You may be interested in our class on Oscilloscopes!

During this 2 hour workshop, participants will get acquainted with using oscilloscopes with synthesizers. We'll cover why scopes are useful for synthesis and how they work. We will have analog and digital oscilloscopes on hand, including several Mordax DATA eurorack modules, to learn firsthand how to use them in a patch. Some understanding of synthesizer terminology, like waveforms, envelopes and triggers is useful but not necessary to attend.

Facilitated by Matthew Rempes, Max Jersak. Additionally, Brandon Fessler of Mordax Systems, local designer of the DATA scope module will be on site to answer your questions and provide insight into how scopes work and how you can incorporate them in your artistic practice.
