Restorative Justice and Facilitating Toward Accountability

Brooklyn, New York
Free - $54.12 (includes all fees)

Join MayDay Space in collaboration with Restorative Justice Initiative for a training on the foundation of restorative and transformative justice, and what it can look like to facilitate community spaces with an eye towards accountability and healing.

This training will take place from 11am-4pm on Tuesday, April 31st, and will be facilitated by Anooj Bhandari, Network Coordinator at Restorative Justice Initiative, and Melissa Centeno. Anooj and Melissa both have years of work as youth organizers and as youth restorative justice coordinators with Make the Road NY and S.O.U.L. Sisters Leadership Collective, respectively, and currently organize city-wide for community healing through abolitionist organizing practice.

The workshop rate is sliding scale from $25-50 - we are asking individuals with access to wealth and/or white privilege to pay the highest amount. We do have a very limited FREE tickets available for local community members (live and/or work in Bushwick, long-term resident of Bushwick) who would like to attend but cannot afford the sliding scale. Please contact info@maydayspace.org with subject line "RJ Workshop tickets". Note: There is no refund policy for this workshop.

Please note that at the moment, the building where Mayday Space operates is not wheelchair-accessible. While this workshop is currently in-person, we are planning on hosting it virtually in the fall.

Covid-19 Policy: We are asking participants to either bring proof of vaccine or a recent negative PCR test to the workshop - there has been a surge in local cases and we will be contact tracing at this event. Wear a mask at all times - we will also have additional masks if needed.
