Avant Garbage 2018

Miami, Florida
$6.63 (includes all fees)

Feed Your Head Collective Presents ►
◄ Avant Garbage is an annual unconventional and genuine Art Basel Experience focused on POC and LGBTQIA artists bridging the gap between DIY culture and the high art world.
The exhibition's focus is on using found objects and repurposed "trash" materials to create an immersive world of dialogues surrounding consumerism, radical economies, where things end up, how we can work with our communities and our available resources to create a holistic world that works with us.
We explore three pillars: Environment, Economics, Education.

▄ Pumpkinhead (New Orleans, LA)
Pumpkinhead is the culmination of years of self-contemplation and turmoil. The artist gazed into himself; the abyss looked back. Faced with the opportunity to sink into himself and take refuge, he instead decided to fling himself out into the world, and has been performing in an attempt to express this visceral interior to the world at large.
Living installation.

■ Jason Gvvl (Jacksonville, FL)
Jason GVVL has been involved in the DIY/zine scene since the early 2000's. During that time he has experimented with countless styles and aesthetics, constantly evolving and moving forward. His work does not belong to any one genre but usually contains psychological and spiritual elements.

▄ Wombo (Louisville, KY)
"... avant-pop / post-punk / whatever-rock rookies of the year -- WOMBO. With heavy historical whiffs of everything from Devo to Kleenex/LiLiPUT, ESG, Talking Heads, and Henry Cow, the excellent young trio of Sydney Chadwick (bass/vox), Cameron Lowe (guitar), and Joel Taylor (drums) follow in the footsteps of futuristic garage-funk greats with a lovably kool wit, while somehow managing to be sincerely, effortlessly, and unforgivingly themselves. - Sophomore Lounge

▀ Donziii (MIA)
Donzii is post-punk performance art by Miami via New York no-wave rippers. A hot punch of angular funk backbeats, sinister guitars and singer Jenna Balfe's aggressive nonchalance make this dark must-see, must-dance music for the times.
