Wearing Masks & Saving Face

Toronto, Ontario
$17.18 (includes all fees)

We are all familiar with wearing masks to hide our real selves, but we have to ask, for whom do we hide ourselves and why? For many of us, we wear a mask to save face, not just our own, but for our families and communities’ sake. “Saving face”, or the act of doing what you can to retain the respect of others, is a term seen in many Asian cultures, but is a concept that many QTBIPOC are familiar with.

Join young queer artists Cho Chua and Angelo Luu in a QTBIPOC spoken word poetry workshop as we use literary tools and artistic ways to express the complexities of facades, feelings, and face. At the end of the workshop, attendees are encouraged to perform the pieces they write, if they wish.

No one will be refused for lack of funds. Energy exchanges are available please email us at info@myteabase.com
