*** Welcome one and all ***
*** to a Community Visioning ***
*** for Bricks & Glitter 2020 ***

In July 2018 Coalition Building, a group of local 2SLGBTQIA+ artists and community organizers launched Bricks and Glitter, a 10-day community arts festival celebrating two-spirit, trans and queer talent, ingenuity, caring, anger, and abundance. With minimal resources and the hard work of dedicated members, volunteers and artists, we were collectively able to organize 30 events throughout the duration of the festival.
2019 was another banger. We achieved a massive, sprawling festival that has become more diverse, more widely attended and more
nuanced than last year. We had our first event outside of Toronto, in Mississauga. We developed a translation team and a care team that were formed to meet some of the developing needs of our collective as well as the social framework of Toronto's arts community. These teams are continuing to develop and are working towards autonomy from the collective itself so that they might become part of the social net in our arts microclimate.
And we have renewed our commitment to holding space for artists, community and discourse from the wellspring of Two-Spirit, trans and queer talent, ingenuity, caring, anger, and abundance.

In order to understand how to make access to the festival better, as well as what the community wants and needs, we’re asking for your input. For those of you joining us for the first time, we’ll be explaining the process behind putting together the festival, feedback from last year on limitations, as well as our initial thoughts on this year’s festival.

Together, we’ll also be thinking about:

---What is Toronto missing that Bricks & Glitter might be capable of providing? If Bricks and Glitter isn’t yet capable, can we help locate the resources needed?

---How do you perceive "queer community" and your place in that "community?"

---Are there any kinds of big dream projects that you might want to work on? How could Bricks & Glitter support?
