Presented by virtual care lab and PHILTH HAUS
Together, we empower the tear amidst our seismic grief. This gathering will begin with a public livestream meditation and soundbath by PHILTH HAUS, and a reading by artist Sarah Naqvi, opening a portal to a heightened state of emotionality. This will be followed by an intimate video chat resulting in an epistolary, tear-scented correspondence. This continual crying ceremony does not expect one to cry, but merely provides the option for it. Afterward, ANDRA will send participants a letter with a formulation to make a scent from their tears.
About the host:
PHILTH HAUS is an art collective of 6 members, or entities: ANDRA, SYLLA, LYLEX, COLY, ROCO, and PHILIP. This community is channeled by ANDRA and now interacts as an ever-evolving system of trans member entities searching for a form. Their recent album is "Faint Breath". The collective has been exhibited in Los Angeles, New York, Boston, and Honolulu, and currently is a participant of 2019-2021 De Ateliers Artist Residency in Amsterdam. ANDRA is a graduate of Harvard University with a B.A. in Molecular & Cellular Biology, Minor Studio Art cum laude.
The first part of this gathering will take place on Twitch as a public livestream, and the second on Zoom as a closed crying ceremony. Please sign up for the corresponding ticket when you RSVP. Suggested donation is $5-25, no one turned away.
