"An easily salvaged LM386 audio amplifier chip doubles as a weird, crunchy, "playable" distortion box by touching the exposed circuit with your fingers.
By touching the active circuit, the lm386 self oscillates, which without an input sounds like a screechy synth, but with one, adds harmonic distortion."
