”Performing as a makeup artist, I will create a look along with my model that engages in the creation of an identity through makeup and costume. Something in between a YouTube makeup tutorial, a behind-the-scenes view of a fashion shoot, and livestream performance art, the purpose of this piece is to explore the visual sensuality and intimacy in the exploration of self-presentation. Many of us are outside the high fashion industry, and we can feel critical of (or criticized by) its unrealistic standards of beauty and class, it's distortions of gender and race. But we can harness those same tools of presentation to create ourselves visually, to claim our own bodies and stories.“
