We Wiggle Dolls is touring YET AGAIN!

On October 5th, select members of the New-York centered but diasporic puppet show collective "We Wiggle Dolls” will perform a new adult-aimed puppet cabaret set, alongside short form puppet pieces by Richmond's own Storm Welch, DOOMSDAY x3, and music by Ian Blackwood and Red Pedlar!

We Wiggle Dolls is a diasporic puppet show collective spun out of a popular Brooklyn Puppet Slam. Since October 2023, We Wiggle Dolls has produced 10 puppet slams, a 6-day festival, immersive experiences, long form productions, a light and shadow rock music spectacle, three national tours, and has published several puppet-themed zines! We Wiggle Dolls’ mission is to bring as wide a variety of puppetry as possible to audiences, to showcase new talent alongside seasoned veterans, and to make historical puppet culture more readily accessible as well.

Storm Welch (@stormthebirdy) is a visual artist and activist from the Monadnock region of New Hampshire. They graduated from Maine College of Art in 2017 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Printmaking and are currently working on block printing a 3-part Crankie performance called the “Handless Maiden”. While Storm is passionate about finding ways to use art for social change, they also believe strongly in utilizing all types of artistic expression from craft, to dance, music, and writing as ways to resist and survive late-stage Capitalism. They have performed at various puppet slams across the east coast including @blackcherrypuppettheater and @mayostreetarts.

Ian Blackwood & Red Pedlar (@ianblackwoodmusic & @red.pedlar) are two mainstays of the Richmond music scene and frequent collaborators. They weave sonic tapestries from a myriad of acoustic and electric instruments and will be performing a set of new compositions for the We Wiggle Dolls performance. Unexpected, playful, and boundless musical soundscapes await.
