Interactive Flow: Using Sensor Data to Manipulate Audio and Video

Brooklyn, New York
$43.58 (includes all fees)
Up to $22.47 for members

This workshop outlines tools and strategies for creating sound and manipulating video from any kind of data. The course will touch on a wide range of topics including methods of interaction, using data in installations, performances and interactive works. Students are encouraged to bring their own ideas to walk through the technical challenges that they face and to find solutions together. We will cover linking software together, common communication protocols and an introduction to Pure Data (freely available to download for every operating system). We will work with data from sensors in real time including electroencephylograph (EEG), heart rate, breath rate, electrodermal activity (EDA), physical distance as well as pre-existing data sets. Folks interested in the course should bring their laptop with any software that they would like to control (e.g. Ableton Live, VDMX, Resolume, Signal Culture Apps, etc) and a pair of headphones. The workshop will run approximately 3 hours. Led by Jen Kutler
