MISE EN SCÉNE is a performance showcase hosted at MISE-EN-PLACE, aiming to create a shared platform and emerging network for experimental practices that don’t always fit neatly within departmental silos; from composition and sonic arts to performance, installation and visual media, and other hybrid forms. The event’s primary intention is to bring people together across different practices and create an ongoing platform for dialogue, overlap, and future collaboration.
Featured works include an original multichannel composition by Siyi Lang, A Special Mystic Joy by Trevor Treglia, where live saxophone is tracked and unfolded into a dynamic microtonal field; and a movement and text-based performance by Nilakash Roy-Faderman examining ecology, grief and memory.
Connor Evans presents an improvisatory modular systems driven by live guitar, while Zhihao Cao bridges traditional Chinese instruments with contemporary forms. Jonathan David performs a semi-improvised set for guitar and electronics and Jenn Grossman delves into audiovisual environments shaped by live sampling and guided imagery. Shi Jingxin explores embodied memory and relational tension through movement and language.
