Ridgewood Commons Wednesday Films : Bit (2019)

Free

For the gayest possible Spooky Season this year, Ridgewood Commons will be screening the 2019 queer vampire film “Bit” on Wednesday October 22nd at 7:30.

(And be sure to come for Rocky Horror with Shadow Cast on the 29th!)

Bit follows Laurel, played by Nicole Maines, a trans woman and activist who had a recurring role in season 2 of Yellowjackets. The film begins as she leaves Portland to stay with her brother and find herself in L.A. She meets a cute girl, and next thing you know, she’s fallen in with a girls-only vampire gang. However, rather than focusing on this budding romantic relationship, the film explores her relationship to her friends and family, as well as to herself.

There is, of course, also a seasonally appropriate amount of blood and guts, as well as a heartwarming message of unity to lead us into the Fall of [you know the … bit ;)].

Stick around after the film to discuss its political elements and their implications for today.

Ridgewood Commons events are donation based, no one turned away for lack of funds.
We are currently under-funded via subscriptions, and would appreciate your support via a $10/25/50/100 monthly subscription, or a one-time donation that fits your budget.

We are also open to hosting skillshares and events via the greater RC community, and the space is available for rental, see ridgewoodcommons.nyc for more details.

Withfriends tickets are very useful for us as RSVPs, but are not required and will not be checked at the event.
