Beginner & Technique Balinese Dance

Join us for Gamelan Dharma Swara's new BEGINNER & TECHNIQUE DANCE SERIES. This 6-week series will cover a brief history of Balinese dance and introduce the different styles of the movement form. We'll also visit ideas of musicality and the important connection between Balinese dance and gamelan music, while spending time on specific choreographic works, some classical and some contemporary. All of the pieces we will cover in this series are part of Gamelan Dharma Swara’s repertoire - with the first hour as an open class, and the second hour as a company rehearsal. Participants are welcome to stick around for the second half of class and join rehearsal, or simply observe.
This is a PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN series of classes, with SUGGESTED donations of $22 per class, or $120 for the entire series.
