Join us for a Poetry Brothel Pop-Up Show, where will offer all of our classic literary pleasures at happy hour times (and prices!) <3
The Poetry Brothel is an immersive literary cabaret. Inspired by the turn-of-the-century brothels in New Orleans, Paris, and Buenos Aires, many of which functioned as safe spaces where fringe and avant-garde artists could experiment and perform their work, The Poetry Brothel presents a rotating cast of poets, each operating within a carefully crafted character, who impart their work in public readings, spontaneous eruptions of poetry, and most distinctly, as purveyors of private, one-on-one poetry readings.
In celebration of National Poetry Month, The Poetry Brothel will take over a pop-up art gallery at 118 Norman Street in Greenpoint and transform the room into their stage. Consider this show a Poetry Brothel happy hour! We will have reduced ticket and token prices so you can purchase readings to your hearts content.
Doors will open at 5:00pm and performances will start at 5:30pm, with one-on-one readings taking place over the entire evening. Enjoy poetry, burlesque, mysticism, tarot, and an overall thrilling time.
