late registration for Breaking Down the Hits
In this class we will look at some beloved songs from the 1950s-60s (girl group songs, Beach Boys, soul classics) and break down the basic music theory behind them. The class will take place entirely online, and will involve singing as well as some written exercises and worksheets to get you familiar with scale degrees, interval ear training and understanding chord progressions and harmonies. There will be opportunities to "perform" what we're learning as a soloist, encouraged -- but not required! This class is great for people who are musical and/or singers, but never received formal theory training and want to learn more about the magic of music theory. Online classes means you will mostly be muted while singing, which can be very liberating for anyone who is shy to sing in front of others.
