Brooklyn Law School - Conversation with ABC No Rio + Harvey Epstein

Join the Brooklyn Law School Art Law Association (ALA) on November 19th at 6pm for a discussion with ABC No Rio, a collectively-run art space, gallery, and music venue founded in the Lower East Side in 1979.

ABC No Rio group began as an “extra-legal” experiment in reclaiming unused urban space, but grew to be a resilient fixture in the downtown arts, punk music, and and activist scenes. Since 2018, the space has been “in exile” as they await the construction of their new, four-story building.

The panel will feature Gavin Marcus (executive director of ABC No Rio), Victoria Law (writer and photographer, ABC No Rio), and Harvey Epstein (currently Assembly Member District 74, soon City Council District 2), moderated by Prof. Michael Haber (Community Development and Movement Infrastructure Clinic). We will discuss the role of arts and culture, the politics of urban space, the existential threats facing arts organizations, and more.

RSVP required.
